Well the most obvious one is am I a member of political party?

Well yes, I'm a member of the Conservative Party.

Why am I a member of the Conservative Party?

I used to be years ago when I was at university - until Tony Blair got in. At that point I realised it would take at least a decade to for any party that represented my views to be in a position to make a difference. I was frustrated with previous party leaders until I saw an interview with David Cameron who mentioned the new central tenets of The Conservative Party - Individual, Corporate and Social responsibility. It struck me as I was thinking that morning "why can't people take responsibility for their own actions? So that's why I'm a Conservative - I believe everyone is responsible for their status and everyone is, to some degree, responsible for the greater global events.

Another reason that I became a Conservative is because I felt the current government are far too focused on pushing through policies that they think will help them get elected rather than fighting for laws that the country needs. Spin, it's all about spin these days. I've had enough of it.

What are the issues close to my heart?
It's difficult to sum up what most annoys me about British society today. If I had to, it would be that I feel that there is too much "lost opportunity" these days. Individuals are indirectly encouraged not to fulfill their potential. The social security system is to weak on people, the system is too easily manipulated. People don't have pride these days. Previously it was frowned upon if people got into debt, their marriage broke down or if you didn't work. During Tony Blair's reign this is common-place.

People view it as inevitable that you'll be in debt and have children out of marriage. It's viewed as "out-dated" if you say that society would be better as a whole if there were more married families. I'm sorry, call me out-dated, but I believe married families are beneficial to society.

Today we all see ourselves as victims. We're all victims of an uncaring society. What a load of rubbish! We're all part of society and determine what is in the "national conscience". This feeling of being victimised is due people giving up easily. Be it giving up on their marriage, giving up on their children, giving up on trying to progress in work, giving up on your family or giving up on each other.

It's about time people took responsibility for their actions. It's about time people started thinking for themselves. I don't follow trends, I don't take notice of the press that say I should wear this that or the other and I don't take notice of people that say I can only be in a certain social group if I own certain products or have certain views.

In summary, people are loosing the ability to think for themselves, they're forgetting that each and every one of us has a part to play in society and more worryingly, people have lost the ability to differentiate between truth and fiction.

The latter point is a legacy that Tony Blair really should be embarrassed about.
